Baby Safety

Why Your Baby’s Safety is My Top Priority: The Peace of Mind You Deserve

When you book a newborn photographer, you aren’t just looking for someone with a nice camera. You are looking for someone to trust with your most precious, fragile gift. In an industry that is currently unregulated, I believe that parents deserve more than just "pretty pictures"—they deserve the highest standard of professional care.

Here is how I combine my medical background and professional business standards to keep your baby safe.

A Medical Foundation: Why My Nursing Background Matters

Before I picked up a professional camera, my hands were trained in neonatal and paediatric nursing. This medical background is the heartbeat of my photography business.

  • Physiological Awareness: My training as a Neonatal and Paediatric Nurse means I deeply understand a newborn’s delicate anatomy—from their developing spine to their respiratory patterns.

  • Expert Handling: I spent years handling fragile infants in clinical settings. I know how to support their heads, necks, and airways in every single pose.

  • Recognising Cues: I can quickly identify if a baby is overheating, overstimulated, or simply needs a break, ensuring they remain comfortable throughout the session.

Safety First, Every Time

In my session, "the shot" never comes before the baby’s well-being. I follow strict safety protocols that go beyond the industry norm:

  • The Power of Composites: Those "dreamy" poses where a baby appears to be resting their chin on their hands or sitting upright are always created as "composites." This means a hand is supporting your baby at all times, and I edit the hand out later in Photoshop.

  • Environment Control: I maintain a strictly sanitised environment. All props and wraps are laundered in baby-safe detergent after every use, and I follow a rigorous hand-sanitising routine.

  • A "Spotter" Policy: I often ask parents to act as a "spotter," keeping you just inches away from your little one for an extra layer of security.

Professionalism You Can Trust

A truly professional business is a protected one. I believe in total transparency when it comes to the "behind-the-scenes" of my business.

  • Fully Insured: I carry comprehensive professional business insurance, including Public Liability and Professional Indemnity. This isn't just about protecting my gear; it’s about providing a safe and secure environment for your family.

Why This Matters for You

When you choose a photographer who is medically trained and fully insured, you can actually enjoy your session. You can sit back, have a coffee, and watch your baby being handled with the same level of care you give them at home.

Your baby’s safety is my absolute priority. I look forward to capturing these fleeting early days for you with the care, expertise, and professionalism they deserve.
