When to book your newborn session

I like to photograph newborns up to 6 weeks old.

Moms-to-be usually book following their 1st scan where I ask you for your due date and I provisionally book you in our diary the month you are due. Once you have had your baby I ask you to contact me, as soon as you possibly can, to book a concrete date for your photo session.  If you are having a C section then a date for your session can be confirmed in advance.

I provide all the props for your photos, from little beds and buckets, headbands, hats and blankets. I have a selection of colours to chose from. Have a look at my website and see if there is any that you love me to recreate. You can also include your babys favourite teddy bear, blanket or anything that’s sentimental to you.

I also photograph siblings and parents, please advise upon booking your session so that we can discuss your preferences.

How long will your session take ?

Safety is the most important thing during my newborn photo sessions. I work at your baby’s pace.  My sessions are never rushed and can last between 2-4 hours depending on your baby’s mood, feeding time, cuddle time, soothing, changing, and posing. Your baby runs the show. I start by settling in your baby ensuring he/she is happy, I might wrap them first and then use other props as they settle. I get to know what your baby likes and doesn’t as we go along. I can do a wide range of poses to suit everyone which we can discuss prior to your session.

 Deposit

I ask for a £50 non refundable deposit booking fee required on booking your photo session which secures you a slot and will be deducted from your final package fee.

How do I book a session ?

You simply email thenewbornbabystudio.com or fill out the contact form on the ‘contact me’ page. Tell me what session you want to book eg newborn or newborn and family and the date you are due.

What happens after I book ?

Upon booking I will send you your confirmation and email you a small preparation list of items to bring along and discuss clothing for parents/sibling(s) with you. There is no need to provide clothing for your newborn as he/she will be photographed unclothed or in a selection of props. I can also discuss your preferences and if you have any specific requirements. My newborn/family sessions are each carefully planned out prior to my arrival.

My babys skin has acne and is flaky ?

Most newborns skin is flaky and has pimples. Its your choice if you would like me to edit out or reduce this in your images or simply leave your baby’s skin natural.

What happens if my baby crys at the session ?

In all the time I have been photographing newborns I have never had to stop a newborn session or rearrange it. Lots of moms and dads worry that their baby will cry and scream but I am used to this. I work my magic and take our time to settle your baby.

Will you use a dummy ?

If you are giving your baby a dummy please have this available. All newborns are different, giving a dummy can really help with calming and soothing your baby to help comfort them.

What if I am breast feeding

When your baby is due a feed I will give you privacy to breast feed your baby.

How many digital images will I receive?

It really all depends on the mood of your baby on the day but usually you will receive between 20 and 40 carefully crafted images for you to then purchase from.

When will you receive your digital images ?
About 1-2 weeks after your session, I will email you your digital photos where you can download and select which ones you would like to order.
